What a fantastic day we had on Saturday (25th May)! We were joined by players from Olhão and Vilamoura at our first Netball Fun Day, played at Browns Sport Resort, in Vilamoura.
We started with a warm up from one of our coaches and then some fun netball themed games to help us get to know each other a bit better and get our hearts pumping! We worked on footwork, shooting from different areas in the shooting circle, teamwork, communication and passing skills. It was a really hot day, the summer heat has started to arrive here in southern Portugal, (reaching 32°C on Saturday!) so we made sure to take breaks in the shade and keep hydrated. We know that it will be hot at the Algarve 7s tournament, in two weeks time, so it was good for us to practice in the mid day heat rather than at our usual evening practice times.
After a short break, we started playing netball! We mixed our Rockets’ players in with the ladies from the other teams and played a few 10 minute games, then swapped players around & kept playing until we were all exhausted! It was so nice to be playing with other ladies who just love netball, are open to learning and were there to support each other. We are looking forward to holding a similar day again next season (after the HOT summer break).
