We were very fortunate to be able to play netball with two other netball teams from the Algarve in March. Lagos Fireballs and Villamoura Vixens joined us at Browns Sports Resort in Villamoura along with our ‘Rocket Boosters’ supporters!
We started the day with a warm up and training session from the Fireballs. The drills focused on moving into space, communication and ball handling. It was lots of fun and we were ready to start playing netball! First up in the 10 minute games were Rockets vs Fireballs. Fireballs won a convincing 10-1. We changed up our players and the next game was much more even with a 5-1 score, to the Fireballs. Then we mixed up teams with a combination of Rockets and Vixens players vs the Fireballs for the following two games. The day finished with 2 more mixed matches, with players from all teams playing together. Nicky was our umpire for the day and did a fantastic job keeping us all in line (!).
It was wonderful to be surrounded by and playing alongside and against other women who love playing netball. We are looking forward to playing in more friendly days in the coming months. Hopefully we can start to reduce the goal difference.
